
David M. McCarthy - Managing
Director
Mr. McCarthy is a co-founder of The Birkhill Group and has
served as a Managing Director
since its launch in 2006. He brings to our clients over 20
years of investment banking and corporate management
experience. Prior to co-founding Birkhill, Mr. McCarthy
served as CEO of Zanett, Inc.,
(NasdaqCM:ZANE), a leading IT solutions company serving the
Fortune 500 and Homeland Defense markets. As a founder of
Zanett, he built the company from concept through
development stage to a $50 million run-rate, profitable
operating company.
Prior to Zanett, Inc., Mr. McCarthy was a
principal of The Zanett Securities Corporation, an NASD-SIPC
broker-dealer he co-founded in 1993. At Zanett Securities,
he led or was instrumental in doing over 70 deals, including
the second Internet IPO and the building of several public
companies that achieved market capitalizations of over $1
billion at the height of the dot.com era.
Hs early career
was spent as a derivatives trader, first on the floor of the
New York Stock Exchange, then as an independent trader
associated with Speer Leeds Kellogg, now a unit of Goldman
Sachs. As both an entrepreneur and seasoned corporate
executive, Mr. McCarthy has in-depth experience in building
successful organizations and companies from the ground up,
and in maximizing shareholder wealth.

Jack M. Rapport - Managing
Director
Mr. Rapport
is a co-founder of The Birkhill Group and has served as a
Managing Director since its launch in 2006. His career spans
over 30 years, including serving as an international and
merchant banker
for both Bank of America and Manufacturers Hanover Trust
Company (now JPMorgan Chase), as a CFO and subsequently
President of a public IT company, and as an entrepreneur,
founding companies in the healthcare and finance sectors.
As a banker
Mr. Rapport was engaged in a broad range of finance
transactions including: international import/export trade
finance, oil refinery and pipeline construction, energy
development and transmission projects for clients such as
Occidental Petroleum and aviation finance,
including transactions to finance the sale of Hughes
Helicopters and McDonnell Douglas aircraft to foreign
government buyers.
In mid-career Mr. Rapport “crossed the
desk” to become the Treasurer of the $1.5 billion Blue Cross
and Blue Shield of Maryland, where he managed all aspects of
the finance functions of the company, including investment
funds in excess of $450 million, credit, collections,
financial systems and cash management. While at Blue Cross
Mr. Rapport conceived of and launched MedCash, the first
credit card exclusively for health care expenses.
Subsequently, he served as CFO of Adept, Inc., a
privately-held IT services company that he helped prepare
for and sell to Monster Worldwide.
Prior to
co-founding Birkhill, Mr. Rapport served as the CFO and then
President of Zanett, Inc. (NasdaqCM:ZANE) where he was
instrumental in taking a concept from back-of-the-envelope, through
seven acquisitions, to full operational status and
profitability. He brings to our clients in-depth management
and banking experience at both the Fortune 500 and
entrepreneurial levels. Educated in Economics at Dartmouth
College, Mr. Rapport also holds an MBA in banking and
finance. |
